Counseling is a flexible process. The approach that works best for you depends on your unique struggles, goals, personality, and preference. EMDR

EMDR is an effective tool for helping clients heal from the detrimental effects of trauma, anxiety, phobias, and other struggles. Clients process memories, thoughts, and emotions while engaging in bilateral stimulation (usually eye movements). This process helps clients move from a state of distress into calm and control. Additional information about EMDR can be found here.

DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy combines behavioral science with mindfulness concepts. The central concept of DBT is that both acceptance and change are necessary: accept yourself and/or your circumstances AND work on changing your ways of coping with stressors, depression, or anxiety. Clients learn and practice mindfulness skills, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and healthy communication skills in order to live a more balanced, present life.

A Little More About Me

I earned my Bachelor’s in Communications from Dallas Baptist University. After teaching for a few years, I started pursuing my Master’s in Counseling from Texas A&M Commerce. I graduated in 2013, while 8 months pregnant with my first son. My counseling roles in schools and non-profits have provided me the opportunity to work with pre-teens, teenagers, and adults of many backgrounds experiencing significant life changes, trauma, and anxiety. When I’m not trying to keep up with my two elementary-age boys, I enjoy reading, grabbing coffee with friends, and spending time outdoors. I have lived in the DFW area my entire life. My husband of 15 years and I are proud to call Celina home. You can reach me directly at kat@bridgescounselingntx.com or 469.296.8486.
